The LEED standard (see has influenced the promotion, design, and construction of green buildings. Could a similar standard for learning spaces in higher education encourage the construction of learning facilities that enable active learning, collaboration, student engagement, and the support of learning along the higher orders of Bloom's taxonomy? This session will explore the idea of how such a standard, following the LEED model, would award levels of certification to learning spaces designed to support learning activities that align with research into how people learn. We will give a status report and gather attendee input and ideas on the next steps of this project.
