Two institutions will discuss how data can promote the effectiveness of students, faculty, courses, and programs. UMBC leverages learner analytics to help identify and promote effective teaching practices. UMBC's most active LMS course requires students to pass preclass quizzes before accessing and submitting later assignments. Consequently, student activity has skyrocketed, and scores are 20 percent higher on a common final exam. USF will examine how data-driven decision making converges from the perspectives of executive, assessment leadership, and external consultancy. Using general education assessment, USF will also show how data can improve programs and effect a cultural shift when "actionable results" are made available.
