EDUCAUSE BYOD Unconference

Welcome to the EDUCAUSE 2012 Unconference! This unconference experience allows 2012 Annual Conference attendees to engage in activities and discussions about the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) movement in higher education. The event will convene the community to explore and share experiences and ideas through discussions during the unconference.

Overview

  • What & Why?Unconference" refers to a variety of professional meetings that try to avoid different elements of a traditional conference. In this case, we're trying to allow for the emergence of a more participant-driven meeting format. The unconference allows attendees to explore an important topic that participants want and need to discuss, such as BYOD. Although the initial discussion topics will come from crowdsourced voting,  participants may collectively decide to change and flex the agenda. For example, the group may choose to discuss a topic over two periods, or a new topic may arise as part of the discussions. After each discussion session, the group will come together to briefly recalibrate the program.

  • When & Where? The unconference is a part of the larger EDUCAUSE annual conference. Specifically, it will be held Thursday, October 8, 1:30-4:30 p.m., in Room 503/504. We will break the event into 60-minute segments, so join us for the entire event, or at 1:30, 2:30, or 3:30 p.m!
