The Core Data Service database is terrific.I used it last year a number of times to address things like outsourcing network support, wireless, laptops, and security issues/questions. EDUCAUSE is to be commended for hitting a home-run on this one!

Welcome to the EDUCAUSE Core Data Service!
EDUCAUSE is offering the Core Data Service to our members in response to your ongoing need for comparison data about campus information technology environments and practices to help benchmark, plan for, and make decisions about IT on your campus.
Thanks for the Core Data Service and the great support staff behind the scenes. CDS is a fantastic tool and heavily used at Wayne State University for strategic technology planning.

This service has three components:
Web-based survey, through which you are asked annually to provide data about IT on your campus for sharing through a Web-based database service available to all who complete the survey
Web-based database service, through which authorized participants are able to access survey data, using tools that enable the creation of peer groups of like campuses, on-the-fly generation of summaries of the data for each question, and viewing of raw data identifiable by institution
Annual survey summary report available to the public offering aggregated data for questions of special interest in each of the survey's five areas
- Data provided through the survey become available through the database service and are identifiable by campus.
- There is no charge for the database service, but access is restricted to those campuses that respond with legitimate data to all questions on the current core data survey and officially submit the survey. Access is further restricted to individuals who have been authenticated and authorized for such access and who agree to the terms of an appropriate use policy.
- The Web-based database service is not available to the public, corporations, researchers, associations, agencies, or the media. The survey summary report will provide aggregated-data summaries and analysis to serve these populations.
