I know i'm late on the bandwagon but i've finally been able to take a new web use studiesCreated by Joe Sanchez (University of Texas at Austin) on February 7, 2005
This last week new Internet use studies were made public. Some interesting statistics reveal a dramatic increase in adults watching TV while surfing the Net, a finding that adults are more likely to trust information from websites associated with established organizations i.e. libraries, museums, and archives, as well as a confirmation that teen internet-skills are "poor" because of their insufficient reading skills, immature search strategies and easy frustration with poorly designed websites.. (is spending time on poorly designed websites a necessary skill?) If adults are more likely to trust content from libraries and museums why are they spending so little time on them? The combined results form the first two studies would suggest that adults are surfing library catalogues while watching TV, is that really happening? Another question, why do adults spend most of their time on sites that they don't trust? Personally, I believe that social uses of the Internet are going to continue to increase. The Internet is not only about information in a factual sense; the Internet is a social network. More later.... First PostCreated by Joe Sanchez (University of Texas at Austin) on January 31, 2005
