Robotic machine gunsCreated by Stuart Yeates (University of Oxford) on November 14, 2006
Samsung has developed a robotic machine gun, using pattern recognition to separate humans from tree. No mention whether it can separate humans waving white flags from those who are not, and that is the problem. To be honest, I'd be surprised whether an infrared camera can even detect a white flag, since the concept of white is pure a construction of the wavelengths the human eye is sensitive to, and those wavelengths don't include infrared. Coverage on slashdot.org cheers stuart
