The ongoing development of "History of virtual learning environments" on WikipediaCreated by Stuart Yeates (University of Oxford) on September 4, 2006
The Wikipedia article "History of virtual learning environments" is still accumulating research and references for a possible defence against attempted enforcement of patent claims against Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs). Started on 29th July, the page has had over five hundred edits by dozens of contributors. Much of the effort to develop the page has been led by parties with the open source movement, but the information being recorded is also likely to be useful to proprietary vendors who may be attacked. I must confess that my own efforts have been modest and mainly editorial, improving some references and pointing out unreferenced claims. cheers, stuart
