Wikipedia: History of Virtual Learning Environments:Created by Stuart Yeates (University of Oxford) on August 25, 2006
The page started on Wikipedia to accumulate references and materials on the History of Virtual Learning Environments for use in a possible defence against unwarranted software patents has matured in just short weeks of life, with hundreds of edits from dozens of authors making reference to a wide variety of on-line and distance learning systems. It could still use some work, though, so if you know of any pioneering working in the fields of e-learning, VLE, distance learning, networked learning or allied fields leave a note about what was done, when it was done and where it was written up.
