edu1world.org Gets a Makeover and an EdgeCreated by Vicki Tambellini (The Tambellini Group) on July 6, 2009
When you log into edu1world.org you will soon see a new look. Over the next two weeks, we will be rolling out a lot of new upgrades to the site. Feedback from our users indicates that you want a more navigable site with easy access to those groups and topics that are most relevant to you. So we worked with our development team and came up with a redesigned interface that we think you'll love. New user communities are springing up every day, and now they will be much easier to find. On the landing page you can browse and select from our "Members’ Favorites.” Choose the tab for Private Communities, Groups and Associations, or "All" communities and expand your network. Please watch for the launch of our brand new Best Practices Community generously sponsored by Ciber, and be sure to join. The more members, the richer the experience for all. Our news groups are undergoing a facelift as well. We will be keeping the North American Higher Ed News front and center in your Home Community. However, Global News will have a separate location and Vendor News will be housed inside our new Market Pulse community. Along with the new look and feel, we are expanding our premium content and rolling it out as the new edu1world Insider’s Edge -- a suite of products and services, available to individuals and enterprises, that far exceeds your current access to blogs and open groups. Included in the Insider’s Edge are: ★ The Education Institution Technology Profile Database – Over 23,000 ERP vendors and ancillary products are in use in higher institutions, and our exclusive database tells you where. Updated daily by our analysts, this ever-expanding knowledge base now includes over 3900 institution profiles.
★ Our Procurement Library with actual RFP’s and RFI’s from education institutions.
★ The Vendors’ Edge - A compendium of resources, best practices, tips, and tools that vendors can use.
★ And much more! Thanks to generous vendor sponsorship, we are pleased to be able to continue to offer free edu1world access to full-time employees of higher education institutions. Known as Bronze Edge users, higher ed employees will continue to have complimentary access to all of our services, groups and open communities including the full suite of edu1world Insider’s Edge products and services. In the coming weeks, all vendors and non-higher ed employees will be asked to select from among our Silver Edge, Golden Edge and Platinum Edge packages. In order to continue to expand our services, we must discontinue our current “free access” plan for these groups. We deeply appreciate your support of our efforts and are committed to giving you high value for your paid subscriptions. All three fee-for-subscription packages for vendors and consultants include the items listed above and more, and start as low as $49.95 per month. Used properly, edu1world Insider’s Edge will not only more than pay for itself, It will give you an edge. In the coming weeks, we will give you more information on how to upgrade your registration and secure even greater value from your premium membership including special offers for current subscribers. Be on the lookout for a new feature: Our "dynamic profile" will prompt you to complete information regarding your affiliation if you have not already done so. When you receive the prompt, please take a few minutes to be sure that your profile data is complete. edu1world is made possible through vendor sponsorships of the edu1world site, special vendor-sponsored communities, and vendors’ premium paid subscriptions. We appreciate vendor support of our efforts to grow and expand the edu1world community in a way that fulfills the needs of both higher education institution employees and of the many organizations, enterprises and associations that serve them. Please support these sponsoring organizations by participating in their communities and implementing their products.
We will keep you posted over the upcoming weeks as we continue adding new and surprising features to the site. Please let us know what else you would like to see at edu1world.org. Thank you for your continued participation. We are at your service. Vicki Tambellini, Liz Dietz, and the edu1world Team
