July 6, 2009: NTIA Seeks Volunteer Reviewers for BTOP

The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) has announced that it is seeking volunteer panelists for reviewing grant proposals submitted under the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP). Members of the EDUCAUSE and Internet2 community are encouraged to apply. Last week, the NTIA said it was collecting the first round of grant applications for the $4.7 billion program between July 14 and August 14, 2009. The agency says it plans to conduct panel reviews through "at least the end of September," and says the volunteer reviewers' contributions will "be an important factor ... in determining whether to award grant funding."
