Napster, the MPAA and ethical uses of the Internet--file sharing continues to be a hot campus topic. At the upcoming EDUCAUSE Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference a panel discussion will take place Wednesday, January 11 on "Sharing and Fairness: Rights and Responsibilities," moderated by my colleague Mark Luker, EDUCAUSE VP for policy. The panelists include: Amy Ginther, Coordinator of IT Project NEThics at the University of Maryland (http://www.nethics.umd.edu/) Samuel K. Haldeman, Program Coordinator at The Pennsylvania State University (http://www.psu.edu), and Rich Taylor, Senior Vice President, External Affairs & Education at the Motion Picture Association of America (http://www.mpaa.org) The panelists plan to discuss what's happening on campuses with regard to digital entertainment, and will include discussion about illegal file sharing, legal online services, laws and policies, technology and business models as well as education and ethics. If you have specific questions or topics you think the group should address, please post a comment and I'll make sure it gets to the panelists!
