Registration for Cornell's Institute for Computer Policy and Law Now Open

The 2009 Cornell University Institute for Computer Policy and Law in New York, July 20-23, is an intensive three and a half-day seminar examining the impact that widespread use of the Internet has on college and university policies, procedures, and judicial systems.

The program will be led by co-directors Steven L. Worona, the director of policy and networking for EDUCAUSE, and Tracy B. Mitrano, director of IT policy for Cornell University's Office of Information Technologies. Through lectures, case studies, and panel discussions, they will join with other experts and participants to explore topics including:

Recent developments in computer policy, law, and the Internet
An introduction to the laws that apply in cyberspace
Network security policies
Cloud computing
E-discovery
Policy options for social networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook
The laws and politics of digital copyright
Recent and pending Federal legislation
The recent RIAA crackdown on file-sharing
