Educause Live! Podcast - Cyberinfrastructure: A Campus Perspective on What It Is and Why You Should CareCreated by Gerry Bayne (EDUCAUSE) on August 14, 2007
Your host, Steve Worona, is joined by Peter Siegel, for the topic "Cyberinfrastructure: A Campus Perspective on What It Is and Why You Should Care." Click on this topic link for access to the accompanying presentation slides. In March 2007, the National Science Foundation issued its final report, Cyberinfrastructure Vision for 21st Century Discovery. Though focused on the NSF, the report is an excellent starting point for campus-level planning. More than a support infrastructure for high-end researchers, cyberinfrastructure (CI) is critical to the humanities and social sciences as well as undergraduate and lifelong learning. It is becoming increasingly clear that CIOs and campus technical leaders from across the spectrum must consider the rapid rate of change (and significant costs) of CI as part of their jobs. In this forum, Siegel will share some thoughts on the campus view of the impact of CI, how we gain support from key stakeholders (like the faculty), and how we move forward in this space.
