EDUCAUSE Community Names the Top Teaching and Learning Challenges of 2009

After four months of spirited discussion, the EDUCAUSE teaching and learning community has voted on the “Top Teaching and Learning Challenges, 2009.” The results are in: creating active, collaborative learning environments and developing 21st century literacies topped the list, while engaging today’s learners, encouraging faculty innovation, and advancing IT in an era of budget cuts rounded out the top five.

The Challenges project is an effort to both surface issues and to aggregate resources that can help to address them. Now that the votes are counted, it’s time for the community to roll up its sleeves and contribute ideas from various campus vantage points to build a network of solutions around each challenge. People interested in participating can contribute resources to the community wikis, volunteer to lead a session at future EDUCAUSE events, or pick up the phone to be a “reporter” on their campus, contributing community solutions and innovative ideas.
