The Rise of the UnConferenceCreated by Robert H. McDonald (Indiana University) on June 7, 2007
It is amazing lately how much the unconference has infiltrated typical types of academic conferences. Of course this is nothing new as colleagues have always found time to get together during large academic conferences to discuss their areas of interest. However, with the coming of twitter.com and other social tools that really drive from local proximity this is becoming a very interesting phenomenon. The latest of these is the BIGWIG UnConference that will be virtually hovering around this year's American Library Association Annual Meeting. See http://showcase.litablog.org/index.php/Main_Page
