CNI Podcast: Preserving Computer Games as Digital Objects

The Preserving Virtual Worlds project is an on-going investigation into the preservation of computer games and interactive fiction. It is now entering its second phase, which focuses on the identification of significant properties of computer games and attempt to develop a framework for determining appropriate preservation strategies based on a particular game’s significant properties. I spoke with Jerome McDonough, an associate professor at the University of Illinois graduate school of information Science about the project.

This interview is provided courtesy of CNI and was recorded at their 2011 Fall Membership Meeting. The Coalition for Networked Information (CNI) is an organization dedicated to supporting the transformative promise of networked information technology for the advancement of scholarly communication and the enrichment of intellectual productivity.
