Open blogs and cloud platforms such as Facebook have great educational potential. This session presents how Penn State University's reengineering of its Biology 12 introductory biology lab course and Bot 2.0, an NSF-funded research project at UNC Chapel Hill to retain student interest in the biological and botanical sciences, used these web-based platforms and applications to create, manage, and deliver engaging content and increase student recruitment and diversity in biology.

This session, from the EDUCAUSE 2010 Annual Conference, is presented by:

  • Matt Meyer, Senior Instructional Designer , The Pennsylvania State University
  • Michael Shoffner, Senior Research Software Engineer, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
  • David Woodbury, Learning Commons Librarian, North Carolina State University
