Shortfalls in the pool of qualified IT professionals is projected for as early as 2010. How can mentoring up and coming IT professionals help solve the coming crisis? Research has shown that a successful mentoring relationship can help one integrate into an organization; increase career satisfaction, salaries, and decrease turnover rates. EDUCAUSE Now speaks with four IT leaders who have either served as mentors, mentorees, or both:

Interview: Sayeed Choudhury on the Present and Future of Data Curation

Sayeed Choudhury is Associate Dean of Libraries and the Hodson Director of the Digital Research and Curation Center at Johns Hopkins University. He has been involved with the Data Conservancy project, one of two pending awards through theNational Science Foundation's DataNet program. The Data Conservancy embraces a shared vision: data curation is not an end, but rather a means to collect, organize, validate, and preserve data to address grand research challenges that face society.
