A. Michael Berman is Chief Information Officer for California State University, Channel Islands. In this interview with Colin Currie, Berman talks about creating and maintaining innovation as well as the economic realities of higher education.

Michael Berman is the Chief Information Officer at California State University, Channel Islands in Camarillo, California. From 2005 through 2008, Michael was Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. Prior to joining Art Center he was the senior technology administrator at two other universities. Michael is also an active participant in NMC and was a member of the advisory committee for the 2009-2011 Horizon Reports. Michael holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Rutgers University, and he has been a faculty member, a software developer, a systems administrator and a textbook author.
