The University of Ontario Institute of Technology's Long-Running Mobile Laptop Program

The University of Ontario Institute of Technology has operated a Mobile Laptop Program from its inception in 2003.  All seven thousand undergraduate students are required to participate in the program. The hardware component is supplemented by the use of more than two hundred software programs in the delivery of curriculum. Loaners are provided if the hardware fails, and all courses must have a WebCT component that students use during lectures. In this interview with Mark Naylor, Assistant Vice President of IT Services and Dr. Bill Muirhead, Associate Provost Academic, we find out about the history of their initiative, what advice they have for other institutions, and how these lessons might apply to mobile devices.
