Postsecondary Accessible Instructional Materials Public Teleconf. - Aug. 12

The Postsecondary AIM Commission filed a public meeting notice this morning announcing an Aug. 12 (11:00 AM – 5:00 PM, EDT) teleconference (http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/search/pagedetails.action?granuleId=2011-19133&packageId=FR-2011-07-28&acCode=FR). The goal of the session will be to get the commission members’ final input on the group’s recommendations to Congress for improving the accessibility of instructional materials for postsecondary students with disabilities. Per the current commission timeline (http://www2.ed.gov/about/bdscomm/list/aim/meeting/seattle-wa/aim-timeline.pdf), the final report to Congress is due Sept. 27, but the Aug. 12 session will likely be the commission’s last true working meeting prior to finalizing the report.

The meeting information has not yet been posted to the AIM Commission website as of this writing (http://www2.ed.gov/about/bdscomm/list/aim/meetings.html). However, if you’re interested in the group’s work and recommendations, you should definitely check the commission site to see when the meeting announcement is posted there. The commission’s pattern thus far has been to provide any supporting documents for a meeting, such as current drafts of its report and recommendations, with the meeting announcements appearing on its site. Information on participating in the Aug. 12 teleconference, though, is already available via the Federal Register meeting notice cited above.
