EDUCAUSE 2011 starts next week, October 18-21, in Philadelphia, PA. There are 60 security and privacy-related sessions, and the Higher Education Information Security Council (HEISC) would like to provide some highlights.

  • Kick-start your week in Philadelphia with one of several seminars being offered on Tuesday. That evening, you can mingle with colleagues during the opening reception in the exhibit hall.
  • On Wednesday, following the general session with Seth Godin, stop by EDUCAUSE Central between 10-10:30 am ET to meet EDUCAUSE Cybersecurity staff, as well as the chairs of the 2012 co-located Enterprise and Security Conferences. You’ll also have a chance to chat with HEISC members and EDUCAUSE Cybersecurity staff during the CG poster sessions on Wed. (1:30-2:30 pm) and Thu. (12:30-1:30 pm).
  • On Wednesday afternoon (2:30 pm), join the Department of Education Federal Student Aid Technology Office’s CIO and Deputy CIO to learn more about their initiatives for data and information protection, including the department’s plan to require two-factor authentication. And later that day, hear what’s new in the InCommon community.
  • On Thursday, you can learn about practical approaches to risk management, attend the IAM Working Group community update, discuss securing mobile devices, and hear about the latest developments in Washington from the EDUCAUSE Policy team.
