CAMP Identity and Access Management Integration Workshop

CAMP Identity and Access Management Integration Workshop

June 27-29, 2005
Westin Tabor Center, Denver, Colorado

The CAMP: Identity and Access Management Integration Workshop will feature both the broad view of identity and access management and specific examples of campus implementations. Attendees will get a chance to understand the current state of thinking from leaders in the higher education space and leave with specific suggestions on how to solve problems back at the office.

The meeting will kickoff with a functional model of this infrastructure, including the interdependence of

  • authentication and assurance levels,
  • authorization and privilege management,
  • enterprise directories,
  • related policy, and
  • identity data and associated systems.

Subsequent sessions will highlight the work flow and data flow among the components, instead of their specific installation and design recommendations. (For example, a case study might include a good example of how to enable a directory to service a portal to provide a specific application, but won't present the general details of how to deploy a directory.) Attendees will then explore how this infrastructure integrates with data systems of record and the online applications and resources that institutions are interested in protecting.

The CAMP program will include

  • a project-based case study track featuring campus experiences with the process, policy, and technology; and
  • a technical track that will offer methods, tips, and techniques on how to connect the components of identity and access management to each other, as well as to the data sources and the resulting applications.

Both tracks will include discussion sessions, encouraging the exploration of common requirements, needs, and deployment issues.

Special Offer: To get the most guidance from the meeting, bring your current IdM integration problems and volunteer to do a five-minute presentation. The attendees posing the most interesting problems (and offering the most creative solutions) will win a classic <Got Authz?> CAMP T-shirt.

Sessions are tailored to campuses implementing identity and access management systems. Institutions are recommended to send the two attendees that best fit the categories below:

  • IT strategists, technology and project managers, and related leadership
  • Technical implementers

Note: A minimum of background information will be presented, so attendees should have a good working knowledge of and some deployment experience with identity and access management. If you would like to attend and don't have this background, you can still register and then review the resources on the NMI-EDIT Getting Started page.

About NMI-EDIT

The NMI-EDIT Consortium of Internet2, EDUCAUSE, and SURA has been working on identity and access management tools, schemas, and software over the past four years. This development has resulted in a comprehensive understanding of the business drivers, organizational processes, specifications, and architecture involved in implementing this infrastructure.
