Dear colleagues,

At CU-Boulder we’re currently exploring various technology options to support our academic program review process.  Which tool(s) and application(s) are used at your institution?  Does anyone have experience with assessment management systems?  If so, which ones?

Thanks for your input,

Melinda

Hi,
We have implemented UC4 in our Banner environment, but do not believe we are taking full advantage of the product, given our limited staff. We plan to distributed an RFP to identify a consultant vendor who could help develop job scheduling processes.  If you know of any vendors who do this work or would accept an RFP, please send along (and vendors are welcome to contact me about this specifically, by email).

Wondering how others approach the issue of individual account requests (or password retrieval) for Alumni.

Particularly, what office handles that at your school (Alumni Affairs? IT?), and what if any identity verification you might perform. For example, do you require a copy of a photo ID of your alumni?  If they predate the current ERP,  what if any data attributes do you require? (Name? Email, birthdate, addresss, cell phone?)

Thanks for any insights-

TCC is exploring options to provide faculty with a public profile page so they could publish information related to teaching, research, service, CV that would be linked to our employee directory. We could develop something internally, but was curious to see if there are any 3rd party applications other institutions are using for this type of application.

Folks

Please join me for the Administrative Systems Management Constituent Group Meeting at Educause. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 16th, from 3:40pm - 4:30pm, in Meeting Room 207A.

In the past, the discussion has been fairly organic, based on topics brought up at the time. I think that has worked well and been valuable, but I've also started a Google Doc to collect possible discussion topics in advance.  Please feel free to add any that interest you.

I look forward to seeing all of you next week!

The Calls for Proposals are still open for both Connect Chicago and Connect Baltimore, the re-imagined regional conferences from Educause.  I encourage you to submit proposals and help to build rich programming at each conference.  There will be also opportunities for constituent group activity at both conferences. I am not currently planning to attend either, but if someone who is better positioned geographically would volunteer to lead a CG meeting or roundtable, Educause would be happy to support it.

The deadline for the Chicago CFP is September 30th and for Baltimore it's November 13th.

We (Dean’s Office/I.T.) have recently evaluated 3 products –

Redrock software:  AdvisorTrac

Simplicity software: Insight Advising

Starfish Retention Solutions:  Starfish Connect

We haven’t selected a vendor yet however, AdvisorTrac appears to be the best fit from a functional/cost perspective. We already use TutorTrac and are happy with its’ performance. In my experience, I’ve yet to see a third party product that ‘seamlessly integrate’ with our ERP.

Good luck!

Hi,

I'm reviewing the systems and web sites that we use to advise students.  I note that we've built degree requirements in our catalog ACALOG, in our Banner CAPP rules, and we've proliferated this information across over a dozen web pages.

It seems to me that maintaining these data consistently is a problem. And the re-entry of the same data repetitively is a problem.

Someone suggested that we could build these data in DegreeWorks - yet another system.  But if we could extract reasonable data to populate all these other "thingies" , there'd definitely be a value.

Has anyone done anything like this?

Hi,
We are a Banner school.  We have a manually created document, PDF, listing general university departments with the general office phone number and fax number.  You can see it from the link on the bottom left of this page:  http://www2.oakland.edu/webdirectory/index.cfm

We'd like to get out of doing this manually in central IT, and we'd like for departments to be able to maintain this in Banner.  Is anyone creating reports like this?  Where are you storing the data and how does the list get produced?

We currently provide students with email for life.  We have been asked to review two options for the replacement of our existing system, moving to a hosted solution such as Google Apps or Office365, or just providing a .edu email address and forwarding service to deliver messages to a students personal account.  We would like to hear others experience or opinions on this.  I have concerns with forwarding, particularly for current students as you can not guarantee delivery of important messages.  And with free or low-cost hosted email options available now, are more schools allowing alumni to retain a full email account?
Thank you, please feel free to contact me at my email below.

I haven't written to this listserv before, but I am hoping you can provide me with the Executive Information System you are using with Banner.  We are looking at them again and one of the main criteria is a low amount of effort to implement on IT's part.

We'd also in the future, like to add access to other systems than Banner to it.  We are also looking for an easy to use interface for the end user community.  Yeah, I know, I am dreaming on that one.

Please let me know if you have one that fits at least part of the bill.

We now have a policy requiring that we maintain syllabi for all courses.  The syllabi are required to be delivered to students at the beginning of the course.  This policy was put in place to improve student success, and also to ease the process of accreditation, as accreditation bodies need to refer to these.  Also, these syllabi are required to be stored permanently.  We use Blackboard, but our Blackboard expert surprisingly didn’t think that the syllabi could be extracted to satisfy the permanent storage requirement.

Is anyone else tackling this problem?  If so, how?
