All,

We recently released a bid for a firm to move our Banner database from one Solaris Server to another.  We received a bid from an off shore firm called GI Group.  I am checking their references, but would like to hear from anyone that has used them.  Both good and bad (if there are any).

Thanks for your help,

I haven't written to this listserv before, but I am hoping you can provide me with the Executive Information System you are using with Banner.  We are looking at them again and one of the main criteria is a low amount of effort to implement on IT's part.

We'd also in the future, like to add access to other systems than Banner to it.  We are also looking for an easy to use interface for the end user community.  Yeah, I know, I am dreaming on that one.

Please let me know if you have one that fits at least part of the bill.

Have a great week,

Hello All,

Lafayette is reviewing CRM solutions and I’m hoping you can help by answering a few questions regarding your use of a CRM solution.

1)What vendor or vendors are you using for your CRM?

2)What departments are using a CRM solution?

3)How long has each department been live with the CRM?

4)What ERP are you using?

5)Is your ERP and CRM integrated?

Thanks very much for your help.

We are very interested in how others are solving this problem.

We use QuickBase to track college and university data, but the solution is expensive… and getting more expensive each year.

Please copy me on your response.

Thank you in advance.

Folks,

We need to retain a consultant to assist with an assessment and some reworking of our Raiser's Edge installation.  If you have worked with a consultant that specializes in Raiser's Edge, and you recommend them (or perhaps more usefully, if you don't recommend them!), could you send contact info my way?  Off-list replies welcome, I can summarize for the list if there's interest.

Thanks,
Eric

Hi,
We are a Banner school.  We have a manually created document, PDF, listing general university departments with the general office phone number and fax number.  You can see it from the link on the bottom left of this page:  http://www2.oakland.edu/webdirectory/index.cfm

We'd like to get out of doing this manually in central IT, and we'd like for departments to be able to maintain this in Banner.  Is anyone creating reports like this?  Where are you storing the data and how does the list get produced?

FYI, I was just told that the Educause Enterprise IT Leadership conference is are looking for any final proposal submissions. It’s last minute, but if anyone is interested in submitting a proposal idea, they’re due by the end of the day tomorrow (11/14). Proposals can be as simple as a few sentences to capture your idea.

The invitation is below. Conference details are at http://www.educause.edu/events/enterprise-it-leadership-conference.

Thanks.

Hi, all

The notes from the constituent group meeting at the Educause conference have been posted to the Educause website. I encourage you to review them, whether you were at the meeting or could not attend. The discussion began with introductions and the collection of major challenges each of you face at your institution, which led into a lively discussion of some of those topics.  My hope is that we will be able to continue that discussion on this mailing list, and I will be following up on that with some questions to you over the next few weeks.

The notes can be found at:  http://www.educause.edu/annual-conference/2012/administrative-systems-management. I think you may need to be logged into the Educause website to view them. If anyone has any trouble, please let me know.

Good afternoon

If you’re planning to be in Denver next week for the Educause conference, I’d encourage you to join us for the Administrative Systems Management constituent group meeting. It’s scheduled for Thursday, November 8th, from 4:30 PM – 5:20 PM, in meeting room 402.

The discussion will be fairly informal. I’ll have some topics and questions, but I expect the conversation to flow from what all of you are looking to ask each other.

Since I’ll be leading the discussion, I’ll be looking for a volunteer to act as scribe, so that we can post the notes on the mailing list after the conference.  If anyone is interested and/or willing, please email me.

After twelve years of service, Kevin Shalla is stepping down as leader of the Administrative Systems Management constituent group.  I'd like to thank him for his excellent work, both in managing the email list and in coordinating and leading the discussions at the annual conference.

I am taking over leadership of the group, and will be doing my best to keep conversations flowing over email, as well as lead a good discussion in Denver. You will likely hear from me soon with a request for topics.

For those of you who don't know me, I currently oversee enterprise services at Massachusetts College of Art & Design, including both infrastructure and enterprise applications.  I held a similar role at the Boston Architectural College, where I worked first as a librarian and then as manager of administrative systems.  Before coming to MassArt, I worked in the student systems area at MIT, supporting a range of their...

We currently provide students with email for life.  We have been asked to review two options for the replacement of our existing system, moving to a hosted solution such as Google Apps or Office365, or just providing a .edu email address and forwarding service to deliver messages to a students personal account.  We would like to hear others experience or opinions on this.  I have concerns with forwarding, particularly for current students as you can not guarantee delivery of important messages.  And with free or low-cost hosted email options available now, are more schools allowing alumni to retain a full email account?
Thank you, please feel free to contact me at my email below.

Does anyone have any experience in buying such a system?  I am interested in finding out what was involved integrating the various systems.

Thanks in advance for your help.

We now have a policy requiring that we maintain syllabi for all courses.  The syllabi are required to be delivered to students at the beginning of the course.  This policy was put in place to improve student success, and also to ease the process of accreditation, as accreditation bodies need to refer to these.  Also, these syllabi are required to be stored permanently.  We use Blackboard, but our Blackboard expert surprisingly didn’t think that the syllabi could be extracted to satisfy the permanent storage requirement.

Is anyone else tackling this problem?  If so, how?

I'm working on producing a strategic plan (my first), and am on the step of surveying what's going on in our environment regarding recruiting, admissions, registration, degree audits, classroom scheduling, and transcript production. For example, FERPA is changing, the Common Application and Universal College Application are gaining acceptance by more schools, some schools don't require transcripts at application time, and some schools (including mine) produce electronic transcripts (digitally-signed PDFs). Can you think of something relevant to share in this discussion, or have any of you gone through this exercise and have something you're willing to share?
