Colleagues,

As most of you are probably aware, EDUCAUSE is hosting a free, online discussion on analytics called the “Analytics 3-Day Sprint,” and we are looking for leaders in our community to help foster the discussion. Please feel free to forward this to your groups.

Analytics is ranked as one of the Top-Ten IT Issues of 2012. While this may not be a novel topic to IT, there is still a lot to learn. Analytics can be used to address accountability, affordability, efficiency, competitiveness, and student success—but how and where do we get started?

Join the Conversation! The EDUCAUSE Analytics 3-Day Sprint will be held July 24–26 and is a free, online discussion about the many ways analytics is impacting higher education IT. I encourage you to join in on this conversation. Learn about the right questions to ask, and the right answers to the questions that may soon be asked of us. If you have not signed up for the free daily webinars, from 2-3:30 EDT each day, be sure to do so—and plan to visit the sprint website linked above throughout the event to participate in additional online activities and discussions on analytics. Register for the free webinars.

Volunteer with Us! As an active participant and leader in our community, I’d like to invite you and your constituent group to contribute to the conversation by being a volunteer during the sprint. Share your perspectives and help prompt the community to ask questions.

We are looking for community members to help with:
·       Tweeting about the event using the hashtag #EDUSprint
o   Help spread the word about the sprint
o   Participate in Tweet-chats about the webinars
·       Fostering dialogue in Ideascale
o   EDUCAUSE will host a conversation hub in Ideascale and we will be asking for ideas and comments to surface what matters most about analytics in our community
·       Build interest about the sprint and analytics in higher education in other social media platforms
o   Are you a thought-leader or social media expert? Consider writing about or curating information about the sprint in your blog or social media tool of choice

If you or members of your CG would like to help EDUCAUSE direct this important conversation please sign up here to volunteer so we can send you a message a few days before the start of the sprint with directions and URLs and other information that will help you support the sprint.

We are looking forward to talking about this challenging yet promising topic. Please let me know if you have any questions about the sprint or volunteer opportunities and thank you so much for your support of the EDUCAUSE community.
