A few questions for those of you who use Google mail/calendar/docs:

* How do you get user credentials to Google?
* How do users' Google credentials play/sync with other identity management systems, such as Active Directory or single-sign on?
* Are there any important benefits/disadvantages to your approach?

Thanks,
Chris

Jon Warbrick from Cambridge University (in the UK)  has presented on this

Slides are at http://www.slideshare.net/jw35/jw-gappsssoandidmictf

There is also lecture captured version at http://webmedia.company.ja.net/content/presentations/shared/ucisa_cloudcomputing160211/charles_warbrick_googleappsatcambridgeacasestudy/charles_warbrick_googleappsatcambridgeacasestudy_final.html with him talking  (he starts about 9:30 in after talk by their data protection person)

They do authentication based on their “shibboleth alike” service for desktop access and also provision in a different username and password to enable phone sync.

Hi Chris,

I've seen Cambridge present their story that Caleb linked to and I'd recommend looking it up, but the generic answer is the Google Directory Sync tool for which more information is at http://www.google.com/support/a/bin/answer.py?answer=106368
