If you said 'yes', please reply.  I'm looking for a person or two to describe the technology approach they've taken to integrate the hospital into the rest of their systems.

Message from rich.stevenson@umuc.edu

Is anyone on the list using the Oracle SAIP add on for integration PS Campus Solutions 9 with their LMS or other products?  We are in procurement, and have heard from a sister school in our system that they have had lots of issues with the product and Oracle is not able to provide much support.  They ultimately couldn't get the product working and negotiated a refund.

Just curious what anyone else's experience on the list may be, the level of complexity in implementation, and whether anyone has used Unicon or another partner to assist with integration.

Thanks,
Rich

I don't know if you all have looked at the CORAModel (http://www.coramodel.com/) but it is a simplified reference architecture that looks useful for describing all the layers we need to do the cool stuff that users want. I'd like to talk about this on the next call and see if anyone else is using the model and/or if there are extensions or use cases for the model. Hello all

Good Morning!

We are planning on creating an Intranet for our IT division and is in the requirements gathering phase. This initiative will enhance our non-real time collaboration(wikis, blogs, shared space, tags, document sharing etc.) capability within our division. We view the real-time collaboration (presence, IM,chat, Video etc.) as a separate initiative which will cover under Unified Communication.
I was wondering if anyone can give their ideas / thoughts on how Intranets are generally being used within your institution and some direction on what product sets might be worth to look at.

Thanks

Hi All, There is an Enterprise Architecture Capability Map in this blog post: http://www.mikethearchitect.com/2010/07/the-enterprise-architecture-capa... and an ongoing discussion about the Capability Map here at the Forrester Research site: http://community.forrester.com/message/17302#17302 It is a pretty comprehensive map of all of the functions for Enterprise Architecture. I think it is a little odd that there is an "Office of Architecture" section. Everything else is focused around function not org structure. Otherwise, I think it gives a good overview of all of the things that a complete EA program would...

February 14, 2012 | Shelly Feran

Hello all – we are in the very early stages of addressing two of the initiatives identified as most needed by our first-round EA exercise last year. The first is that of managing non-credit activities – continuing studies courses, continuing medical/dental education offerings, seminars, conferences, HR professional development and so on. The second is customer/student relationship management – really an essential component of the first for the units who market their activities to the community and a critical need for our Enrollment Services shared services center.

I’d very much like to hear from any of you who’ve already been down that road or are about to embark on a related journey.

Thanks

  • Does IA include the metadata and the workflow?
  • How does this relate to data architecture?  Information is when you do something with Data.
  • According to Jim P:  Information Architecture is  how users find the information, how you present it in a meaningful way, how do you organize the information.  User Experience is larger than IA but does include it.
  • Data Architecture has to do with definition of data itself, what elements are included.
