Hi all,

 

I just learned than Camtasia Studio 8 is completely inaccessible to a screen reader. TechSmith mentioned that they never tested for this, amazing! We have found an HTML 5 player that is accessible, but it does not have the ability to allow close-captions to be toggled on and off. I wonder if any of you have encountered this situation before and found a solution. The options appear to be:

 

1)      Find an accessible player that can take a separate close-caption file and allow toggling.

2)      Find a company that better addresses this issue.

3)      Come to an unacceptable compromise (YouTube, captions that are always on)

 

I would greatly appreciate any insights you may have as our university will require all students to view the video tutorials.

It looks as though the video will be accessible on all platforms and devices except mac desktops and laptops due to their built-in screen reading capabilities. We will provide a link to download the file for Mac users, so mission accomplished.
