Hi All, Another topic of discussion in today's Constituent Group meeting was how to describe complex images. Specifically, Giovanni Duarte of Devry had asked about describing images in the health science area, e.g., how to adequately describe a heart adequately. Here's an excellent resource from the National Center for Accessible Media (NCAM): "Effective Practices for Description of Science Content within Digital Talking Books" http://ncam.wgbh.org/experience_learn/educational_media/stemdx Also, I mentioned in the meeting (prior to Karen Sorenson's arrival) that Karen gave an excellent training at the NorthWest Managers of Education Technology conference last week. These are excellent resources! And thank you to Terrill for the notes on the call, I wasn't able to participate but the notes are quite helpful.

I also wanted to share this Tobi image description sample page that was published the other day, some of you may have seen it already. I found it heartening to see the potential for describing complex images and diagrams for STEM content. It's worth a look.
