Dear Colleagues,

The 2011 Campus Computing Survey is now underway.  The results of the 2011 survey are scheduled for presentation at the EDUCAUSE conference in Philadelphia on Thursday, October 20th.

Many of you recently received an email invitation to participate in the survey.  The email invite includes a hotlink to the online questionnaire.  I hope you plan to participate in this year's survey.

Please contact me you did not receive the email invitation.  (Please feel free to contact me, as well, if perhaps, you "misplaced" the email invite.)

The value of this project really depends on the continuing participation of CIOs and senior campus IT officers from across all sectors of American higher education.  My thanks for your assistance.

Sincerely,

Casey Green

Mine is done!!! While important, with 20 years of data on the same questions, its going to take an earthquake to move the averages don't you think? Observations about trends would be helpful. However, I won't be at Educause this year...sending some staff instead....but always look forward to your report.

Best,
Rob

Hi Casey,
I seemed to have "misplaced" the email invite survey.    Can you send me another one please?

Thanks,
Max

Thanks for your note.  On Wednesday we will send you a new email invitation for the survey.  The survey email invite includes a hotlink to the online questionnaire for Boise State.

In the interim, attached please find a review (PDF) copy of the 2011 survey.

My thanks for your continuing support for the work of The Campus Computing Project.

Colleagues,
Please take a moment to complete the Campus Computing Survey.  Also, plan to hear the results of your input at the Educause conference:

Speakers: Cynthia Golden, Kenneth C. Green
Domain:Leadership, Governance, and Management
Session Type: Concurrent Session
Thursday, 9 AM

The 2011 survey is accessible online.

The validity and value of this project really depend on individuals such as yourself to provide data about information technology issues and policies at your institution.  We have many small survey questions throughout the year on this list.  Casey Green jumps in and voluntarily shares survey results whenever he has data that relate to the question.  We need your input to keep this going.

Please be assured that your institutional data will be handled in a confidential manner. Data from the annual Campus Computing Survey have never been released to secondary users without written permission from an appropriate senior official at participating colleges or universities.

If you need any assistance getting started, this contact info may be useful:

Ditto. The campus computing survey is invaluable when benchmarking and finding those numbers that will get your project past the budget committee. Bob "It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation" Melville
Hear, hear!  I found myself pulling my copy of the 2010 report of the shelf this week to gather "student technology fee" data for a on-campus argument... er, I mean "discussion".  Thanks to Casey for keeping this rolling and thanks to everyone who takes the time to share their stories.

If you haven't done one in the past, the survey is actually a great self-assessment tool.  Makes you look inward, review your position and your progress.  Makes me realize, "why haven't moved forward on this one."  I reference our own survey results as often as I reference the annual report.

I've heard Casey say that the majority of our responses flood in during the last week. If you can get your response in by the October 11 deadline, he'll work his butt off to roll it all into the presentation for EDUCAUSE in Philly.

Get on it!  cj
