Any experience in implementing submission of dining hall food orders via mobile devices?
Debra,
At Messiah College our computer science students programmed a touch screen system for onsite purchases and web-based program to order in advance. Feel free to contact our Dining Services area or our Computer Science Department. Call 717-766-2511 and
ask for either Dining Services or Dr. Gene Rohrbaugh in Computer Science. Don't know about its commercial availability, but it works very well for our needs.

Dear Colleagues...

We have a team in the planning stages of implementing a system that allows students in our dining halls to place their own food orders via an iPad or other mobile device at a kiosk. Further details are below. If your institution implemented a similar
solution and is willing to have a phone chat with our folks, please reply to me directly via
allisodh@miamioh.edu and I will pass along your name.
Miami's Dining Services unit is seeking to implement a system that would allow diners to place their orders via an iPad or other mobile device. That order would set off an authorization process - ensuring that the diner is enrolled in a meal plan and has sufficient funds on his/her ID card in our Cbord CSGold ID card system. The order would then route to the kitchens for fulfillment via our Micros 9700 system. Our ID cards have both smart card (MiFare DES Fire EV1) and mag swipe functionality. We have identified any number of commercial systems, but they all are credit card-based and do not offer the integration with Micros and/or CSGold. If your institution has a similar system or solution, please let me know who to contact for details.
Thanks in advance for your help
Regards,
Debi
