Dear Colleagues,
We are in the process of identifying a comprehensive application and infrastructure monitoring tool to provide monitoring for our central application and IT services. I figured one of the best starting points is to survey this list for input and recommendations on practical experience with such tools.

We are looking for a tool to discover and monitor our web applications, middleware, identity management, security, database, and other critical systems. We have a mix of home-grown and off the shelf applications that we offer to the campus, including web-based enterprise systems, websites, mainframe applications, and hosted services, running on virtualized and non-virtualized clusters.

The key features we are looking for are:
  • High-level dashboards and reporting, with ability to drill down
  • Various levels of alerts and contact mechanisms
  • Metrics and analytics
  • Capacity forecasting, trending, and predictive elements

Any and all input would be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards,
