We've been a Blackboard Wimba site for several years and we're looking to upgrade.  We'd like a tool that integrates well within the Blackboard LMS environment and also works well independently of Blackboard as a general-purpose web collaboration tool.  Blackboard Collaborate and Adobe Connect have emerged as likely candidates.

To that end, would anyone comment on how well Collaborate works outside of the Blackboard environment?  Likewise, would anyone comment on how well Adobe Connect integrates with Blackboard Vista/Learn?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Mike,

I’m not sure how well Blackboard Collaborate works outside of Bb although sales reps assure me that it’s no problem whatsoever and our demo was handled in just that manner – it wasn’t a problem. One thing I’m quite clear on is that Adobe’s integration with Bb is nowhere as comprehensive as Bb Collaborate. Adobe is just a link that you copy and paste. Recordings do not automatically go into the appropriate Bb course site. That makes a big difference to Bb users.

Hope this helps,

Sandie
