EDUCAUSE Annual Conference
Hi All
I am just curious to know why this year's conference dates were chosen to coincide with the Election week.

Hello all,
As the semester gets underway, I thought I’d whet your appetite for what’s in store for CG’s at the EDUCAUSE annual conference this year:
A “Learning Theater” will be built in the middle of the exhibit hall and will contain a variety of programming. We have reserved nine 50 minute sessions for “EDUCAUSE Community and CG Spotlights.” The intent is to allow Constituent Groups to conduct short workshops, demos, and other interactive activities as part of the conference program in the new space. The 50’ x 60’ theater will have seating for around 40 people, projection and microphones, and have room for people to stand around the periphery of the seating/podium.
If you’d like to showcase ITCOMM in this new venue, the Exhibit Hall Learning Theater signups are available at: http://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ai7JBq6xzVZedGxNUXQ0amFqcDNmT0I4NG12WFIwWmc#gid=0. If it sounds interesting but you’re not ready to commit, let’s strike up a conversation on the list! Ideas, anyone?
Other CG activities at EDUCAUSE 2012
EDUCAUSE Community and CG Lounge (Meeting Room 610/612)
- Similar to last year, there will be a few round tables with chairs and couches. We’ll forward the floor plan and room capacity once we receive the information.
- Instead of formal signups, we will post an empty schedule of hours outside the room and CG Leaders and BOF organizers can indicate when they will be using the room by filling in the schedule at the conference. Similar to last year, we believe the room will accommodate several groups. Unlike last year, there will be no projection equipment in the room so it can be left open for longer hours; the Exhibit Hall Learning Theater will have projection and AV support.
Community and CG Lounge Hours
Tuesday, Nov 6 7am-4:00 pm *preconference seminar day
Wednesday, Nov 7 7am-7:30 pm *Note there is an opening reception from 4:30pm-6:30pm in the Exhibit Hall.
Thursday, Nov 8 7am-7:30 pm
Friday, Nov 9 7am-10:15 am *close at start time of closing General Session
Community and CG Poster Gallery
This year’s Poster Gallery will not require your presence but we hope you will stop by. Posters from last year are being re-sized to 30”x 40” for this event. This size poster can be used in other venues throughout the year such as poster sessions at regional conferences.
Community and CG Meetings
All meeting times, abstracts and leaders have been confirmed and are now part of the overall program found online at http://www.educause.edu/e12.
I hope we’ll see many of you soon--in the Coffee Shop, Denver or both!

Hello ITCOMMers,
I hope to see you in the Coffee Shop this Friday, and face-to-face in Denver next month! The ITCOMM CG meeting at the Annual Conference is scheduled for Thursday, November 8 from 9:10-10:00 AM in the Mile High Ballroom 2C/3C. This meeting has drawn increasing numbers each year, and often includes people who are learning about our CG for the first time. I hope many of you seasoned veterans will be there to help me welcome newcomers into our thriving online community.
Like last year, EDUCAUSE will have a CG Lounge that all constituent groups are welcome to convene in throughout the conference. It will be in Meeting Room 610/612. In 2011 we used it for lunch, a meeting place for informal discussions, or just to take a break. It’s really nice to have this designated place; I expect we’ll find lots of opportunities to use it and connect during the conference.
Hope to see you soon,
Lisa

Hello Lisa,
Some of us were on last Friday, October 12. Did the Coffee House Schedule change? If so, would you send the new invitation for today?
Thank you.

I have missed several of these recently…seems our University likes to book meetings on Friday mornings.
Looking forward to seeing people at Educause in a few weeks.
Enjoy the ‘chat’ this morning.
We just wanted to thank everyone who attended the EDUCAUSE Annual Conference and participated in our Social Media Constituent Group meeting! We had a great crowd and fabulous discussion - and it was so nice to interact with all of you.
Let's keep the conversation going via email and twitter (using the #edusocmedia hashtag). We have a really wonderful community of higher ed professionals here and the discussion doesn't just happen during conferences.
Thanks again for being a part of our group!
