We are exploring deployment of Ellucian Mobile and are inclined towards the Platform edition.  Are there any schools that we can connect with to learn from their experience with Ellucian mobile? We would like to understand the pros and cons of Ellucian mobile from your perspective as we formalize our plan for mobile platform deployment for Colorado College.
Thanks in advance,

Thanks,
Brian

Hi Brian,

We deployed the app last year with good success.  My folks would be happy to share their thoughts.

Thanks

We are also in the process of switching our mobile apps to Ellucian Mobile and could benefit from others experiences. Tom Thomas H. Brian,

It can be challenging to compare and contrast different mobile app suites.  While we are a Banner shop, we chose to go with the CampusEAI suite of mobile apps a couple years ago.  We have been very happy with the results.  Some food for thought when considering a mobile app partner:

·         Ability to support a wide range of mobile devices – not just the current ones, but quick response when the students all come with the latest handheld gizmo.

·         Ability to provide customizations (not every app will work perfectly for every institution) – even if you can’t make the changes yourself, be sure the vendor is willing and able to apply your business rules to the logic embedded within the apps.

·         Ability to track usage (which app, who, when, what device) – You can’t imagine how helpful this can be!

·         Ability to turn OFF an app from your database (essentially version control) – There will be times when you simply don’t want the old version to be used, but you can’t force people not to use it and to download the latest code.  You want the ability to deactivate an “app” from within your database – maybe a nice messages suggesting that they download the latest version since this version is no longer supported – and that functionality ought to be for each individual app within your suite.

·         It would be nice to have a set of built-in apps that appear only to developers (based on their role) so that you can use those for testing purposes.

·         Be sure that the login requirements of the app can be lined to your single sign-on infrastructure so that students will continue to use their one username and password.

If you’d like any information about what we’ve done, feel free to contact me directly.

Brian,

We've just done a production soft-launch of the hosted edition.

Our SIS team collaborated with groups from Student Affairs, Student Business Services, and ASUCM to work on a set of links/functions for current students.

I would be happy to put you in contact with my SIS manager.

Regards,

We just went live this week after a few month pilot (we’re Ellucian Colleague with the Mobile Platform Edition).  Have received some very positive feedback.  We have 2 issues that we’ve discovered.  If you’d like further information, feel free to contact me offline and I can answer your questions or put you in touch with our developers who actually know what they’re talking about :-)

Kind Regards,
Jim

Brian,

We've getting ready to release our mobile app suite for the University of Dayton next month.  We've built it using the Ellucian platform and our development team has been pretty happy with the results so far.  I'd be happy to connect you with our lead developer and/or our unit director.
