Event Payment Options
All,
We're evaluating some options for the processing of online and card-present credit card payments. We use TouchNet's Marketplace/Payment Gateway for our online giving and more static ecommerce functions. Our campus is starting to ask for additional options like PayPal, Google Checkout, or Square.com for sporadic event-based payment activities.
Before we proceed, we're curious how other institutions handle the setup of ecommerce and card-present credit card transactions using either PayPal, Google, or Square. Do you have a central service or do departments set up their own mechanisms, or both? If so, how is it working for you? We're particularly interested in the financial back end: does each department set up their own bank account or does the institution use a single bank account for this activity, and how are the transactions accounted for?
