CIO Digest - 16 Nov 2012 to 19 Nov 2012 (#2012-281)
I know....we are a little behind the times but we are finally migrating from GroupWise 2012 to Office 365 in the coming months.  Is anyone willing to share their experiences and tools that they recommend we look at for doing the migration of mailboxes.   In looking at the tools that exist, we see a cost of between $6 to $10 per mailbox using a commercial solution that we will probably use for faculty and staff email accounts, but we cannot afford this for 1,600 and 1,750 alumni mailboxes.

Thanks.

Colleagues:  I've posted a similar question in the past, but this is a bit different.    I'm looking for recommendations for a vendor/consultant that can spend a 1 or 2 week engagement at CWU, understand our current email infrastructure/configuration, our interfaces between email and PeopleSoft and other systems, our identity management environment, etc. and then deliver us (within 4 to 6 weeks following the engagement) a transition plan/schedule, cost estimate, RFP draft, challenges/risks assessment, resource needs assessment etc.  The ultimate goal would be that the deliverable will allow us to 1) attain the funding/budget for the transition to Office 365, 2) understand the risks, challenges, etc., 3) develop the RFP so that we can find the correct support contractor to lead/execute the transition, etc.

I'm open to any suggestions.   I plan to issue a Purchase Order (mini-RFP) to bring someone inhouse between now and June 30.   Again, this is someone to lead the planning, budgeting, assessment, etc. ... not someone to actually do the project which will likely occur sometime in FY14.

Thanks
