John,
There is an Internet2 NET+ service validation underway with 10 campuses for broad deployment of Docusign that will be available to non Internet2 schools. Its sponsored by Temple and UC San Francisco who selected DocuSign because of its FISMA certification and legal acceptance in something like 160+ countries.
The service validation is underway now with expectation of production service later this spring.  https://www.internet2.edu/products-services/cloud-services-applications/docusign/f is the index entry until the service validation testing is completed.

Subject: [CIO] Prom Notes and electronic signature

Our financial aid office is asking that we enable students to electronically sign promissory notes.  Their impression is that a majority of schools is already doing this.  We are reviewing the US Department of Education “Standards for Electronic Signatures in Electronic Student Loan Transactions” document, dated April 30, 2001, revised July 25, 2001.

If you are doing this, would you be willing to share what methods and technology you are using?

Thank you to those who have replied.  I have learned that many schools use ECSI or ACS to collect promissory notes electronically.  If you are using either of these two servicers, would you be able to share your experience?
