Good afternoon.

In 2011, the Institutional Research function of the University was transitioned into the Office Information Services (OIS) organization. I worked closely with academic leadership and the OIS Enterprise Systems team to develop a model formalizing the services offered and the relationship with other OIS units.

We also took the opportunity to expand the role of Institutional Research beyond traditional compliance data collection and reporting. The new model also includes responsibilities for assessment and data quality management.  Attached you will find a mind map describing the model implemented at Stritch. Though we are still fairly young in our implementation of the model, we have seen significant improvement in collaboration between Data Quality & Institutional Research, Enterprise Systems, and the academy. Specifically, the DQIR team has worked collaboratively with Enterprise Systems and the Academy to successfully implement Online End of Course Evaluations, the LiveText Assessment Management System and refined data standards in academic and administrative functional areas.

Our IR office used to answer to the College’s Executive Vice President. Now that we no longer have that position, the IR office answers to me. I know it is a little strange, but the thought was to bring the protection and access to the data under one roof. Consequently, my title changed. We have done well with the office being part of Information Services, as we just recently passed our SACS-COC accreditation.
