Hello,

LCC is considering pursing the purchase an implementation of a CRM system.  If your institution has implemented a CRM solution in the past 2 – 3 years, would you be willing to share your RFP document with us?  We have already compiled a good list of requirements for our CRM, but it would be very helpful to look at what other institutions found important to include as well.

Also, if you selected / implemented a CRM system in the past 2 – 3 years, if you don’t mind, please let me know which solution you went with, and if possible, please provide a brief explanation of why you chose that vendor.

Thank you so much, in advance, as this information will greatly assist LCC (and likely others on this list) in our pursuit of a CRM system that will best suite our needs!

Randall,

We implemented Salesforce for our CRM… we couldn’t be more pleased. We were among an early pilot group attempting to utilize Salesforce for HE and have gone through several revisions over 5 years. The latest revision, completion in January, was a complete revamp. We worked with a consultant partner of Salesforce to complete about 90% of the work to configure it to our needs.

We chose Salesforce because other HigherED CRM-ish tools were underwhelming (our humble opinion) and low in maturity compared to their enterprise counterparts especially Salesforce.

We used an RFQ process rather than an RFP process which is a little different. I could share this with you if it helps.

One additional point about SalesForce (we are also starting to use it):

The Salesforce Foundation offers Salesforce for free to higher education institutions (and other non-profits).  If I recall correctly, you can get a 10-user license of Salesforce for free (it is the full version), and additional users are a significant discount off of the commercial price.

The foundation can be found at:  http://www.salesforcefoundation.org/highered

I have heard that some educational institutions approach Salesforce directly and then end up paying full price (as perhaps not all Salesforce reps either know about the foundation or don't want to give up a sale).

Good luck!
