I'm interested in knowing if any of you are using text messaging routinely to communicate with students for normal, i.e. non-emergency, matters.  If so, a brief description of how your system works and the vendor that's providing the service would be appreciated.

Cecil College uses the Blackboard Connect solution.

Departments use Connect to send/receive text messages for non-emergency communication. Although Connect has an emergency notification component Cecil College has chosen to remain with it’s existing vendor pending review by the campus safety department.

The text feature integrates with the Bb Learn LMS for faculty to deliver text messages from within the Learn platform.

The system is opt-out. Use is managed and monitored to ensure appropriate use.

Feel free to reach out if you want detailed info.
