We currently have a Google search appliance but we are taking a close look at Google Site Search.   We are a long way from any decision but I'd love to hear if others have made the switch.

Pat, we have brought up Microsoft’s FAST search engine which provides us with some useful federated capabilities that we  need in technology commercialization and research information (across 15 campus web sites and additional databases/information). Not quite the question you were asking, but in case a federated search is an important need…
