What Professional Organizations or Associations to join in the New Year? We are looking to see which would be appropriate for our College of Graduate and Professional Studies should join, including listservs and groups. We oversee all blended and online learning initiatives on our campus as well, which is we are focusing efforts presently. I have three categories here: Organizations and Associations, Listservs and LinkedIn Groups. What would you add, or are a member of/follow, which you think is a must for this list? I would add ACUTA to your Associations list.

What a good idea and New Year's resolution to review lists as a part of organizational development in particular given the broad institutional/higher education knowledge that these lists contain and continue to disseminate. Thank you, Nicholas. And I am wondering if added to this query might be blogs and accounts followed? Happy New Year! Tracy

Nick,

Great list. I have nothing to add, but can vouch for ASTD (American Society for Training & Development). They have chapters all over the country and very good national resources.

You might also consider the WICHE Cooperative for Educational Technologies.

Nicholas: this is a great list.  I would only add my own organization, The Association for Authentic, Experiential and Evidence-Based Learning (http://aaeebl.org; pronounced "able").  This is the professional association for the global eportfolio community -- focusing on the learning values in our name as enabled by electronic portfolios.

AAC&U also has an annual Eportfolio Forum on the last day of its annual conference, as an indication of this century-old association's growing interest in technology.  AAEEBL has an affiliation with MERLOT, which you might also add.  Regarding EDUCAUSE -- you might specifically look at ELI, The EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative.

Best
Trent
