Hello all,

 

Gartner has done research on what they call Cloud Services Brokerage (CSB). They have argued that this is a role that central IT departments should play within their organizations through explicit services for aggregating, integrating, and customizing cloud services on behalf of their internal customers (departments). Cornell is one school I see making their stand toward cloud services and their support very explicit: http://www.it.cornell.edu/services/guides/cloud/index.cfm.

 

For those of you in central IT, have you reorganized or are you planning to reorganize staff and services to explicitly support cloud...

Since many of our institutions are members of Internet2, I thought this would be beneficial to share.

 

At their Fall 2012 Member Meeting this week, Internet2 announced that they have arranged for a $200 discount for members registering for the “Contracting for Cloud Computing Services” seminar in Washington DC 10/29-10/30/12.  To receive the discount, just enter the code “Net+” during the registration process.

 

This seminar is for anyone implementing, planning or considering adopting a cloud computing service.  Participants will learn how to mitigate the risks associated with cloud computing via contract negotiation and vendor management.  Past participants called it "the best seminar I've ever been to" and "more than excellent".

Dear colleagues,


Cloud Computing is among the key trends in information technology, and EDUCAUSE has hundreds of resources available on the topic. Cloud conversations have moved from the “should we be doing this?” phase of recent years to the “how do we do or help campus partners do this well?” phase. And nothing comes in handier than a group of colleagues that are grappling with similar issues and that we can run ideas and questions through. That’s why we decided to form this group.

Aside from sharing ideas and experiences via this list, we are planning to schedule at least two webinars a year on cloud-related topics. The first...
