Since we switched from Exchange to Gmail, we have struggled with the 'mail merge to email' capabilities of Gmail, particularly the cumbersome interface and the limits on the number of daily recipients of messages.

How are users managing to send customized 'mail merge to email' type mailings for Admissions, fundraising and other purposes in a Gmail environment?

Thank you very much.

We use a mix of Google groups populated from banner/ldap and regular mailing list software, PHPList.

We still maintain our own SMTP servers and deal specifically with those departments who deal with outside mass mailings. Thought they usually have their own mass mailing service as well.

Not sure if you have seen this Google Apps Script - https://developers.google.com/apps-script/articles/mail_merge Of course, this does not help with the daily limits on the number of emails.

Our functional offices continue to use other services such as Constant Contact because of the analytics feature.

Assuming you're using the gmail website we've used a spreadsheet in google docs to accomplish this.

There are many templates out there.  If you have trouble finding one, msg me off list.

We did the same to address the same need.
