Good Morning,

I am the CIO at the College of Mount St. Joseph, a smaller (2200 FTE), private institution.   For the past year, I have been serving as co-chair of the Mount’s Vision 2020 Strategic Planning Task Force.    The Vision 2020 process reached a major milestone this past Saturday by engaging the full Board of Trustees in an all-day strategic planning retreat.   The visioning process will be “completed” this semester (end of April).  Naturally, there are many things that went extremely well with the visioning process and many things that went ok but will be improved the next time that this process is done.

Nadine’s suggestion that there be strategic planning presentation(s) at Educause got me thinking.   I’m curious if anyone else who has taken a leadership role in an institution-wide strategic planning process would be interested in joining me to create a panel discussion on “The Roles of CIOs in Institution-Wide Strategic Planning”?  I realize that we have a short time to get a session proposal pulled together but if there are 2-3 individuals interested, I am willing to take the lead in writing and submitting the proposal.

I look forward to your feedback.

Keith

Keith,

Siena, my institution is a touch bigger than Mt. St. Joseph at 3300 FTE. I've been here just over a year and came on board several months after a new institutional strategic plan was published. I'd be happy to sit on your panel representing the bad side of what happens when the CIO is NOT involved.  :)

We're _really_ small - 100 FTE and less than 1000 students - so I'm, not surprisingly, involved at the institution level.  And while that might make me a bad fit for such a panel, I'm certainly interested in the topic.

I'd like to participate. I'm the CIO at a 5500 FTE community college. Currently implementing a campus-wide BI suite which has been interesting to say the least. Also assist with IT at the county K12 school district. Thanks, Josh R. Piddington Chief Information Officer Gloucester County College ... sent via smart phone ...
