Sorry for the cross posting but I wanted to reach out to as many folks as possible on these questions.

Next fall, we are planning to implement a 1-1 BYOD laptop program at Pingry for grades 9-12. I have a few questions for everyone (even folks without a 1-1 program).

1) I am looking to issue an RFP on overhauling our network infrastructure. Any one have companies that they are happy working with or an RFP that they can share?

2) If you are a 1-1 school, how do you handle financial aid students?

3) What is the size of your Internet bandwidth? I asked this a few years ago...and you know how much things can change over just one year.

Not sure if your asking for a vendor or hardware, we are using a company called Vandis for our network infrastructure purchases they have been amazing in regards to support and pricing, hfranciotti@vandis.com . In regards to Hardware we are as of this year 98% Juniper shop we will be replacing our core over the summer. Pricing was competitive against HP and more features and functionality than Cisco.

N/a

We just went through a complete upgrades of our network infrastructure this summer.  We went with Extreme Networks for equipment (same price as HP, better feature set).  We worked with Carousel Industries (based in RI, but offices in various locations around the country) and they were great.  There were a few glitches in the project (what project doesn't have some glitches) but they were very responsive and handled the whole project quite well.  My contact is Lauren Palozej (lpalozej@carouselindustries.com).

We are not 1-1.  We have 25Mbps of internet bandwidth right now (1200 students, 500 computers, 100 iPads, day school).

Hi Quoc,

FYI: I crated a Scoop.it page on the pros and cons of 1:1 and BYOD, as one of the schools with which I work is considering moving in that direction. Feel free to check it out - I hope it will give you ideas:

Doh!  I forgot to include a copy of the RFP that we used!  Here it is.  It's not great, but it worked for us.
