Anyone use CardSmith for their cashless systems on campus? Any opinions on the company/product would be great. Responses by many of you about Odin have caused us to widen our net on potential solutions for a new cafe, the bookstore, vending machines, etc. I'm interested to hear what anyone has to offer on their experience of moving away from cash and/or charging back to a school account for students. We are looking at going all-in with a debit based system for parents in every possible way on campus. See you in June! We use Cardsmith; I'd be happy to connect you with someone who can describe our satisfaction level.

From a tech standpoint it's been fairly smooth.

We've been using CardSmith for 7 years here.  Overall, very smooth and we were able to leverage the cards to integrate with our PaperCut server and copier card-swipe authentication in addition to their use as "debit" cards for students/faculty in our cafeteria and bookstore.

Thanks Chris, we use PaperCut too and are looking at that as one of the features to implement. I'm getting conflicting info though. Does CardSmith sit on top of other programs like Odin or Blackboard for point of sale usage or does it handle everything from end to end? -- Ryan The EDUCAUSE ACCESS Constituent Group Listserv writes: >We've been using CardSmith for 7 years here. We’re using CardSmith on our campus for our campus store, vending machines, and even have reached out to businesses in our community to accept the card (we front the business the card reader).

I’m not sure if we connected it to our laundry services yet, but I remember it has that capability.
