I have library staff and operations under me. I was given the choice when I joined 3 years ago if I wanted to keep libraries as it had been a recent switch under the previous director. I had no problem with it and thought it made sense in that our librarians are more and more data driven. It has been extremely helpful, I believe, to have a technologist like myself involved in the workings of the library as things are moving more towards digital. I also happen to have a great library staff that are fierce defenders of the library as an institution, but also open to the changes and enhancements brought about by technology.

In my opinion it's been a great move for our school.

At Prep, the Librarian reports to me.  When our veteran Librarian retired, she was very concerned that the Library, which serves all three Divisions, not report through on of their heads.  The most logical place for her to report, both structurally and programmatically, was to me.  This has worked well for us and the logic gets more sound every day.
