If my memory serves (and that is a big if), someone spoke of a good graphing calculator that they use instead of TI calculators.

If anyone had any thoughts on this, I would be most appreciative.

I like Desmos, but I do wish there was something EXACTLY like the TI.  We use Smart-View on our desktops and laptops, mostly so that we can project that to the whole class.  But haven't found the same functionality on an iPad. Maybe with Wolfram Alpha and Google calculator the need for TI is waning. . .

I sent this directly to Peter by accident (rather than to the whole list):

Did you know that TI has an iPad app now that emulates one of their color screen graphing calculators?

I haven't done much testing myself, but recommendations I've seen include the following:

Desmos (web version and recently an iPad app)

It's not cheap ($30) but at the request of one of our Math teachers who is teaching our most advanced 6th grade math students (a small group probably working close to a 9th grade level) we are deploying TI-Nspire CAS.   (For 2013/14, our 1 to 1 iPad use is only in 6th grade.)

Regards,
Bill
